About this tour.
Called the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages“ San Gimignano owes its fame to the medieval towers that at the time were around 100. Nowdays they are much less, but they still give an idea of what apperead to the eyes of a pilgrim that arrived here along the Via Francigena, looking for a shelter. Pilgrims that came here to pay a tribute to God, in the magnificient Collegiata Church of Santa Maria Assunta, that still today shows its original beauties, thanks to many original frescoes dates back to the III century A.C.
Medieval buildings, narrow streets, typical shops where you can taste and buy local products, the best preserved medieval towers, amazing views on Chianti hills make this place a postcard!
This is San Gimignano, medieval gem of Tuscany and Unesco heritage site.
