About this tour.
This is the place where you can breathe the history of the Etruscan Coast. Etruschi people, a community came here in the IX century before Christ.
The Etruscan were rich and important, they built here the acropolis and the graveyards, remains still visibles thanks to the creation of the archaeological park of Baratti and Populonia. A place rich in history and tradition, that after a period of decline because of the Romans conquest, manages to revive, especially during the Middle Ages when it became a Castle.
We will visit togheter one of the the most ancient necropolis of IX ā VIII century. The first one in San Cerbone area, that is located along the coast and easily accessible, the second one called Necropolis of the Grottoes, made of hypogeum tombs (directly dug into the rocks). This last, it is located in the woods and itās possible to visit it, walking along a fantastic path that brings you inside the Mediterranean bush.
The visit will end with the tour of the littleĀ Medieval village, situated on the hill of Populonia, where the Etruscan, built the acropolis. The Castle was built around 1300, and today is a small jewel that gives to travellers amazing view of the Tuscan archipelago.
